On Hiatus Until September

Greetings WWA Readers!

First of all, I want to thank all of you for reading, commenting, and generally supporting the Woman With Asperger’s blog. It’s been my attempt to explore what Asperger’s means to me, what Asperger’s means to a woman, and what Asperger’s means to a person of color living in the United States. It’s been my attempt to both document my own journey of discovery was well as identify some commonalities that I may have with other Aspies through exploring issues that affect Aspies and Auties.

No, I’m not closing down the blog. Not by any means. However, due to issues which have recently arisen in my life and also my desire to concentrate a bit more on my poetry over the summer months, I am simply putting WWA on hiatus until September. What this means is that I will be posting less often, and when I do, it will probably be shorter posts on lighter subjects (I promise you, it will not degrade to me posting about Lady GaGa’s latest look or my love for chocolate — my primary focus will still be Asperger’s/autism and my life).

Also, I’m doing this to reassess how my posting will fulfill the purpose and mission of Woman With Asperger’s. My posting style has been primarily investigative and journalistic, which has limited me on my ability to write and share more on this blog due to the amount of research this requires. While I won’t abandon this style entirely, I think I may take a more personal tone to my posts in the future. After all, if I am sharing the reality of one Aspie woman in this universe, it does perhaps require a more personal approach in my writing.

I will continue to monitor this blog throughout the summer, including comments; please accept my apologies for not answering comments over the last few months in a timely manner. Also, I’ll be monitoring the Twitter and the Facebook page regularly and may be sharing small updates throughout the summer.

Thank you all for your interactions and your support. Hope you have an awesome summer (Northern Hemisphere) or winter (for you Aussies and other folks in the Southern Hemisphere) and I will see you all again in September.

Long Distance Poetry: The Awe in Autism Arts Exhibits

A newly cut video for my poem, “You Don’t See It”, will be featured at two Awe In Autism arts exhibits in April in New York state.

The events collectively are called The Awe in Autism: A Spectrum of Creativity. The first event is on Saturday, April 2 (World Autism Awareness Day) at the Glenwood Arts Center in Glenwood, NY, and will feature my work and that of several other Awe in Autism artists. The second event is on Sunday, April 10 at the Great Neck Arts Center in Great Neck, Long Island; this will feature the same Awe in Autism artists, plus a group of performers.

Sorry, I can’t show you the new video right now…however, I will post in on the Raven’s Wing Poetry YouTube channel after the events are over. I’m very excited at the opportunity for my work to be exhibited and to reach others and thank Awe in Autism for choosing to feature my work along with such talented artists on the autism spectrum.
